Spring is coming (dammit)

by admin on February 5, 2010

mycrocusYes, yes it is. Why, it’s just around the corner!

What?

Ok, so it’s not JUST around the corner. But think of it this way: January is over and done. The first week of February is almost over. CAN YOU BELIEVE that we’re almost 1/6 of the way through 2010? No? Well, there ya go. Proof that time flies.

So back to my point. Spring is just around the corner (technically it’s March 20th) – just over a month away. So what are YOU doing to get ready for spring? Gearing up for spring cleaning? Planning your garden? Signing the kids up for Little League/Soccer/etc. (we actually got a sign-up sheet for Little League this week, and I briefly entertained the thought that the Bunker Monkey might be interested, but no; he’s doing Tae Kwon Do instead)?

Here at the Bunker, we’re doing a few things. I’m planning out my garden (horseradish, asparagus, artichokes, pumpkins for the boy, and a bunch of tomatoes and green beans), the hubs is figuring out how to start building the rest of the dome (you didn’t think we were going to live in a Bunker forever, did you? Silly), and the boy is taking inventory of his various digging and earth moving toys.

The fact that there’s still snow on the ground is completely irrelevant.

So let’s get back to you: What are YOU doing to get ready? We’d love to hear about it in the comments!

(P.S. It’s Bunker Hubby’s birthday this Sunday – if you see him on Twitter, feel free to razz him about getting another year older. God knows I will. It’s one of the perks of marrying someone older than you!)

What I’m trying to do for Spring is not wait for spring; I’m trying to apply FlyLady principles of cleaning so that at the first weekend of good weather hits I’m not chained to the house doing cleaning that’s been staring me in the face all winter. Breaking it down, a little at a time, and filling giant contractor bags with crap I’m tired of looking at has kept me from feeling the winter blahs. I still have a way to go.
