Goodbye, Mr. Fish

OBITUARY

Mr. Fish, a well-loved member of the Bunker family, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010. He originally joined the Bunker family in 2007, in an attempt to teach the youngest member of the family responsibility and because he wanted a fishy really, really bad. In the short time he was with us, Mr. Fish grew to be a well-loved member of the family.

Mr. Fish was known to be quiet and pensive, though unfortunately prone to felonious acts after just a couple of glasses of chardonnay. But to those who knew him best he will always be remembered as a loyal friend, a loving son, and sometimes an irrepressible prankster who enjoyed being the life of the party.

Mr. Fish’s death, though something of a shock to his friends and family, was not entirely unexpected. He was known to suffer from Chronic Fin Rot (or CFR) – a situation that became life-affirming when he formed the Save a Fin Foundation in 2008. The Foundation has since raised millions of dollars for similarly afflicted Piscisians.

He is survived by his mother, father, brother, and cat.

A brief service was held Tuesday eveningĀ for Mr. Fish; it was a private affair held in the family bathroom, attended only by those close to him. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the Save a Fin Foundation.

Although with us for only a brief time, Mr. Fish leaves behind a legacy of love, an empty 1-gallon tank, and an emptiness in our hearts that will never be filled… until we buy a new fish next weekend.
